Take your music and podcasts anywhere your internet can’t go.

How to download
- When you’re online, go to what you want to download.
Note: You can’t download individual songs, but you can put them in a playlist and download the playlist. - Tap to download.
A green arrow indicates the download was successful.
Downloads save to Your Library.
Saving mobile data
By default, you can’t download without WiFi. This means your mobile data isn’t used to download.
You can choose to allow downloading with your mobile data:
- Tap Home .
- Tap Settings .
- Tap Audio Quality.
- Under Download, switch Download using cellular on .
Tip: We recommend downloading over WiFi to avoid mobile data charges.
- When you’re online, go to the playlist you want to download.
- Switch Download on .
A green arrow means the download was successful.
Downloads save to Your Library.
Switch on Offline Mode
Downloads play automatically when you lose internet, but you can use Offline Mode to make sure only your downloads play.
- Tap Home .
- Tap Settings .
- Tap Playback.
- Switch Offline on.
Anything you haven’t downloaded is now grayed out and unavailable.
- Open Spotify.
- For Mac: In the Apple menu at the top of the screen, click Spotify.
For Windows: Click File in the Windows menu at the top of the screen. - Select Offline Mode.

Not downloading?
Make sure your device is ready to download:
- Check the device isn’t in sleep mode
- Check your internet connection is active
- Make sure you have enough storage space
Tip: We recommend at least 1GB free memory
Downloads not playing?
Look for the download status next to your song or playlist:

If that doesn’t help, try reinstalling the app.
Note: You need to re-download your music after reinstalling the app.
Downloads removed?
You might lose your downloads if:
- You don’t go online at least once in 30 days
- You reinstall the app
- You download to more than 5 devices
Note: Downloads are removed from the device you’ve used least recently
If it’s not these reasons, make sure your device can keep your downloads:
